About Mugkalyan High School

Mugkalyan High School was founded by Srinath Ghoshal, a local landlord with a view to spreading education among the young generations. The date of foundation is not known. Since the inception the school has been bringing up millions of students with care, guidance and proper education. For more than four decades the school was housed in mud-built rooms. In 1914 Adi-Bhavan was built in 1961 Vignan-Bhavan, in 1966 Satabdi-Bhavan, in 2004 Student’s Hall. More buildings have been built to meet the growing demands. A great number of students are well-placed in different stations of life. Prof. Amalendu Bandyopadhyay, an astronomer, Purnendu Patri, a writer and a Bengali film-maker are renowned in India and abroad. The school can take pride in man-making mission for long 150 years of glorious achievements.

A good number of doctors, engineers, teachers, professors, athlets and actors had their schooling in this institution.

The School library is rich in collection of rare books on different subjects and a

complete set of Encyclopaedia Britannica.

Laboratories are well-equipped. The School is echoed and re-echoed with langhter and merriment on Independence Day, Republic Day, Saraswati Puja and Annual functions with various programmes. Sarva Shiksa Avijan, NCC and eco-club rouse mans consciousness. Vocational Education & Training under WBSCT&VE&SD is also started since 2009.

Down memory lane all ex-students living in India or abroad remember their days in Mugkalyan High School with deep nostalgia. Long live our Alma-mater.
